Dresser Turned Media Console
My favorite piece that I have made over would have to be my current Media Console table. It started out as a dresser. I picked it up from a local ad and was able to load it in my car (barely). It's 6 feet long and very heavy. I painted the entire piece white. Next step was sanding, but after I started, I discovered some awesome detail in the front doors, so I sanded and sanded and sanded some more. Now I had a piece that was all white with 2 toned doors. It was too much white. I bought an orbital sander at Home Depot and went to town on the top. It was so easy, that I couldn't believe I didn't buy this helpful tool sooner. After the top was completed I grabbed whatever stain my husband had in the garage and voila! But I wasn't finished. The piece still looked like a dresser and a bit too "heavy" looking for my casual family room. Baskets! Anyone that knows me, knows that I have a little obsssion with baskets. So off to Michaels I went with the dimensions of the side drawers. I decided to go with 2 different basket colors. I had to drill 2 holes throught the back for the cable box and stereo wires. It's my favorite piece. How do you like it??

Sailor Dresser
Here is a story about the little dresser that could. I purchased this on Craigslist (as usual lately) and I first planned on painting it different pastel colors, but then decided to break out the painters tape again! I would try to do nautical flags on this one, so my husband and I thought of what it should spell out. What nautical word would fit (6 drawers, 6 letter word). SAILOR it was. I rushed to the computer to see if those letters were hard to do! The rest is history. I used Annie Sloan paint for this one, except for the yellow. That's a Behr color match sample from Home Depot. I brought them a nautical flag garland that I have hanging in my living room to match the yellow. I don't even have a boat, lol!!! And if you are wondering, no it does not spell sailor after all. It's a word scramble now, because the drawers were painted out of order, and wouldn't fit the way I wanted! The gold knobs were an afterthought, but don't they look great?! It's going to be hard to part with this beauty. Do you like it?
